2023 PROSPECTS PROGRAM

Jun. 01, 2023

South Central Minor Baseball Association
11U/13U/15U Prospects Program

We are pleased to announce that Baseball Manitoba will be sponsoring the annual Prospects Showcase Tournament again for 2023! The purpose of the Prospects program is to give players that are not on the league “AAA” team an opportunity to develop and participate in a higher level of baseball and further develop their skills and interest in the game. Prospects is development-based, and focused on non-“AAA” players that have a passion for the game and want to reach the next level.

We are excited to announce that South Central can enter two teams into each level (11U/13U/15U) at the Prospects Tournament; these teams fill up quickly, so we’re going to organize this on a firstcome/first-serve basis. The Prospects Showcase Tournament will be held in Brandon this year (for all levels), on the weekend of July 28-30th. Please be aware that 11U teams can include motivated 9U players as well, subject to all the same bat and pitch-count rules appropriate for that level.

Details for this tournament will follow, once rosters have been submitted.

The deadline to register all players is Monday, June 22nd. To register, contact Chris Manning, Prospects Rep for the South Central Minor Baseball Association at wjcmanning@gmail.com. The information to provide is as follows: Player name, date of birth, town/club they are currently registered in, jersey size, and contact information. Our intent is to group players by regional location; this will be largely driven by numbers/interest, so please submit your names as soon as possible.

Part of any successful program is the volunteers needed to run it. In order to field two Prospects teams at these levels, we will need the coaching staff necessary to support it. If you are interested in being a head coach, assistant coach or manager, please submit your name and contact info to Chris as well.

Potential cost of this program (for an extra month of baseball) will be roughly $100 per child. This will include the cost of the Prospects Tournament, a possible jersey/shirt, and potentially some additional costs for practices and exhibition games (umpires, diamond-use, ect).

Format: this will depend largely on the Head Coach of each team. A suggested format would be: 1-2 practices per week (starting the week of June 29th, after SC Regionals are completed), plus a possible exhibition game played between regional teams.
